Fixed

Windows without opening. Ideal to have unobstructed panoramic views or let in a lot of natural light, in places where ventilation is not needed or the cleaning of the windows does not pose problems. Usually there are more windows with opening in the same room.

Standard Opening

They are the windows with the most used opening system. The window can have one or two leaves that open just like a door, on a vertical axis. The opening can be either outward or inward.

Lifting Sliding

Opening of a sliding line of one or more sheets, on another fixed or movable sheet, by means of an actionable handlebar as a lever that goes down to close or raises to open the sheet. Very used for large holes, in areas such as living room or bedrooms with access to terraces. This opening allows a better use of the interior space, in addition to creating communications between rooms. It allows a secure closure, but is not totally airtight. They can be completely flush on the ground, to avoid jumps and obstacles between rooms.

Bi-Folding Sliding

Total opening enclosure indicated for large gaps with access to patios or terraces. Its mechanism allows a secure and hermetic closure, as opposed to the lifting slide. It consists of several sheets connected to each other, which fold and slide to each end of the hole by means of guides placed at the top and bottom of the frame.

Tit&Turn Opening

They are those that have two possibilities of axis of rotation for their opening: one in vertical (like the normal and current practicable windows) and another in horizontal. On its vertical axis the window can be opened completely reaching, normally, an opening of 180º.

Tilt Opening

It is a single-leaf window that rotates around a horizontal central axis. It is the usual one on roofs and attics. They can be motorized, when installed in places of difficult access.

Guillotine Opening

It is a vertical opening sliding window (from bottom to top). The displacement of the leaves occurs through guides installed on the sides of the window frame.

In sash windows, the bottom sheet of the window slides up smoothly and safely. A mechanism allows it to be fixed at any point of the route.

Sash windows can have a movable and a fixed blade; or both movable sheets, each of them sliding independently by separate guides.  Although its use in Mediterranean Europe is not widespread, it is very popular in other European countries. And it is very useful in kitchens such as windows that are above the sink or as a serving hatch.

Swing Opening

The leaf opens with a slight inclination towards the interior, leaving a small opening at the top of the window that allows air to pass. This window is ideal for basements, garages, toilets and areas of very small space, but that need ventilation.

ActivPilot Concept Hardware

TROPICALS

Sipo

Sipo (Entadrophagma Utile) is a wood from tropical Africa, known as African Mahogany. With a color that varies from light brown pink to reddish brown or reddish brown a little purplish.  It is used for sheets for decorative coatings, plywood, exterior carpentry: windows, interior carpentry: stairs, floors, friezes. Furniture and joinery. Shipbuilding. Turnery.

From the aesthetic point of view, it is an ideal wood to be lacquered with opaque colors or varnished in dark colors, since its natural color is very intense and reddish.

Iroko

Iroko (Excelsa Militia) is a tropical wood well known for its strength and durability, and also for its interesting veining and coloring. It is a very versatile raw material that can be used in many areas, both in exterior and interior carpentry.

From the aesthetic point of view, it is an ideal wood to be varnished, since the resulting colors enhance its natural beauty. It is not recommended to use it with opaque paints (lacquers) of whitish tones, since, due to the resin inside, it can yellow the colors.

Iroko is native to Central and East Africa.

Framiré

Framire (Terminalia Ivorensis) is a species native to West Africa, from Guinea and Sierra Leone to Cameroon.  It is basically a light wood, with a pleasant appearance and a light-yellow color (straw) pulling to brown. It is stable and relatively durable.

Cheaper than the Iroko or Sipo, but not for that reason of worse quality. It is an ideal wood for outdoor work such as doors and windows and is also ideal for indoor work.

Afrormosia

The wood of Afrormosia (Pericopsis Elata) is an African wood of great quality and extraordinary beauty.  Known as the African teak for its great resemblance to the Asian teak, it is an elegant and very noble wood, yellowish brown very similar to amber. It is a very stable, durable wood with great resistance to weathering.

Highly demanded for exterior carpentry, and from the aesthetic point of view, it is advisable to give it a transparent protection, and wax or oil it to appreciate and fully enhance its extraordinary veining and natural color.

LEAFY

Ash

Ash wood (Fraxinus Excelsior) is a very versatile and used wood. It offers an excellent relationship between quality and resistance.

There are mainly two types of ash: the European, which can be found throughout Western Europe and even in North Africa, and the American, in the eastern half of the United States mainly. American ash wood is somewhat less dense and resistant than European wood.

Oak

Oak (Quercus Alba) is one of the most popular woods, for its excellent relationship between quality, appearance, resistance and ease of work.

From an aesthetic point of view, it is for many the reference wood, since, due to its natural color and grain, it adapts to any dye and finish, and fits into all types of decorations.

We can find it in greater proportion in Northern Europe, in the eastern half of North America and Canada.

Chesnut

Chestnut (Castanea Sativa) is a noble wood of extraordinary beauty thanks to its natural color and its pronounced meandering veining. Coming from the north of Spain, it is also known by the names of European Chesnut, Châtaigner, Castanyer or Castiñeiro. Chestnut wood is considered a quality wood. It is resistant, flexible, durable and as it ages it improves its appearance.

It has multiple uses, both in exterior and interior carpentry, as well as in cooperage, shipbuilding and decorative sheets, among others.

CONIFERS

Red pine

Red Pine (Pinus Sylvestris) is also known by other names such as Scots Pine, Flanders Pine or Swedish Pine among others, its wood is widely used around the world, since its cost is lower than that of other species and how easy it is to work it. Coming from Europe and Asia, this wood has different applications in interior and exterior carpentry, carpentry, furniture, joinery and decorative veneers. For exterior carpentry it is better to use it in very stable climates, which do not suffer sudden changes in temperature during the day and night.

Glazing

In Román Windows & Doors we use a thermal and acoustic insulating glazing formed by two glass windows separated from each other by an aluminum profile filled with a molecular sieve that absorbs residual moisture, avoiding the appearance of condensations inside the air chamber thus formed.

Planitherm 4S – Planistar – Cool-lite Sun Control and Energy Saving
Anti-aggression / Anti-vandalism glass

Under this denomination are grouped the characteristics necessary to resist against intentional attacks of various considerations. Therefore, different types of aggression are included and with different objectives: Intentional aggression by throwing objects, vandalism, theft, personal aggression, etc.

When selecting the desired level of protection, the real needs must be assessed. It is necessary to bear in mind that there is NO “anti-theft” glass, but different levels of protection that act as retarders that hinder aggression, but with sufficient time and means, they do not make it impossible.

It will be the user who decides the desired level of protection, either by real and / or regulatory need, or by psychological need (feeling safe) within their home. Therefore, the term “anti-theft” should not be used, as it does not refer to any defined level of protection.

Crystal anti-bullets

It is about offering protection against attacks carried out with firearms both with projectiles of a single mass (bullets) and those of several (posts) considering different weapons (pistol, revolver, rifles, shotguns) and calibers, taking into account that the projectile does not penetrate the glazing and the possibility of projection of shrapnel towards the protected area.

As in the previous case, the user must assess the protection needs, including psychological ones, and the type of attack foreseeable before the decision of the desired level of protection.

Exterior Shutters

The Mallorquinas or exterior shutters of slats are an accessory of solar control and ventilation.

They are very aesthetic closures, ideal to control sunlight in summer and obtain ventilation at the same time in the house. Very common in buildings and stately homes of the late nineteenth century, early twentieth century of our cities, and now, they are widely used also in classic style villas.

As for the hardware of the exterior shutters, they have hinges with 180º opening and closing Spanish with opening button for greater comfort. In addition to its steel structure, the surface also guarantees great strength, as it is formed by three layers to protect the hinge against corrosion: a barrier against water, very strong sun, salinity and temperature changes. The non-stick surface prevents dirt from sticking.

Blinds and Mosquito Nets

Blinds

The roller blinds of continuous coupling of aluminum, are the most used system for its durability and comfort. The opening of the blind has several positions such as the opening by means of an electric motor, which is the most recommended to avoid the unsightly tape, as well as the possibilities of connection with home automation at home.

Although the blind is more resistant than other sun protection systems, the problem will be in the box that registers the roll of the blind.

The boxes of the blinds are usually unsightly (they protrude inwards) and little hermetic both thermally and acoustically.

The use of boxes for blinds type ISOCAJA (BECK & HEUN), provide us (without interior covers when registering the blind from the outside), with a maximum thermal and acoustic tightness.

Unlike other carpentry systems, the window with blind has the same interior aesthetics as other windows without blinds.

Mosquito Nets

As its name suggests, this accessory is very useful to prevent the entry of any insect without having to give up the ventilation of the house.

There are pleats with side opening, especially indicated for doors and sliding lift windows, but the most common are the rollers for tilt-and-turn windows.

General characteristics:

  • Roller mosquito net in 46mm drawer with fabric capacity up to 2400mm high and 2000 wide.
  • Fixing in terminal by clip.
  • Pull cord.

Architraves

Selection of the different models of flashings that we have. Flashing profile section with measurements.

Interior Shutters

The interior shutters are closures to prevent the entry of light, adapted to the gap in the window glass. The panels of the interior shutters can be milled or smooth. The fixation is produced by means of wire rods, in three finishes: Gold, Aged Gold and Chrome.

Widely used for rustic or classic style houses, very common in southern Spain.

They are especially indicated in bedrooms. When total darkness is desired without the need for blinds or curtains.

SECURITY

The different levels of protection that Román Windows & Doors offers you are tested by the RAL quality institute, with resistance tests.

Construction features for any level of safety, in addition to proven anti-friction hardware, require LAMINAR safety glass and lockable handles.

The main element of a security window is hardware. And it must be able to withstand the struggles of occasional criminals, with simple tools, even the most expert thieves with specialized tools.

Therefore, two levels of security are offered, depending on the resistance desired and the place of use.

In addition, there is the possibility of incorporating an electronic surveillance system of closure, where the hardware is connected to the domestic alarm system.

ANTI-BURGLAR HARDWARE

In non-security hardware, protection is limited to occasional criminals and vandalism, not securing angles and not requiring resistance requirements. Safety fittings must be more resistant to struggles of different tools than standard hardware, ensuring all angles, so standard locks and bolts should not be used.

Anti-Burglar hardware

The windows with safety level of protection against opening by lever struggle offer great protection against occasional criminals equipped with simple lever instruments. Each angle of the window is secured with an anti-theft closure pivot (mushroom-shaped bolt) and a security lock.

Resistance class WK1 (RC 1N):

Location: Residential areas such as ground floors and balconies easily accessible.

Type of offender: Opportunist.

Resistance: Against physical violence, without the use of tools.

Evaluation: Good protection, every corner is assured (proposal dependent on the profile).

Test method: Static test (pressure cylinders) with an additional load in the opposite direction to the locking one. Dynamic testing with application can be unscrewed, removed or disassembled all possible parts). In the test according to EN 365 a P4A type glazing should be used.

Glazing: Normal.

Handle: Handle with key lock or button. Attention: Lock button only usable with anti-refraction glass.

WK2 Anti-Efraction Hardware

Resistance class 2 (WK2) according to EN-V standards, is the superior version in safety to the WK1 system. Windows manufactured according to EN-V WK2 offer great protection against occasional criminals up to expert thieves with simple or specialized lever tools.

Resistance class WK2 (RC 2):

Location: Homes and businesses with a high risk of theft.

Type of offender: Experienced with the use of tools.

Resistance: Against simple tools such as screwdrivers and wedges.

Evaluation: Good protection, all points of attack are secured.

Kg method). Manual test (tool group A2) with previous test (study of weak points) and 3 minutes of real test. In the RC 2 and RC 2N test according to EN 365, p4A type glazing should be used.

Design features: Windows and balconies.

Glazing: In RC 2 a P4A glazing must be installed. In RC 2N a normal glazing can be installed (regulations depending on the country).

Handle: Handle with key lock or button with 100Nm of resistance (to rotation and leverage).

Lockable Handles

Although it may not seem like it, a thief finds it easy to enter our homes. With a silenced drill they drill a hole in the window frame, then insert an iron rod with a rotating tip that they use to move the handle and open the window with extreme ease.

It is proven that with this method a criminal access a house only 20 seconds.

But with a handle locking system, the intruder will not be able to open the window, because the security system prevents the rotation of the handlebar and so the inhabitants of the house can live quietly.

There are different options of handles with locking, which we can choose according to our needs.

Handle with key

The main advantage is undoubtedly the security of a closed (locked) window in both a closing and folding position.

This model is especially suitable for use in homes where there are children or the elderly, in schools, hospitals and public bodies, where it is vitally important to prevent someone from unconsciously manipulating the hardware mechanism.

Although they lose aesthetics, lockable handles with key increase the security of any enclosure: from basic security to EN-V. In addition, they offer comfort for rooms with small children or elderly people.

Handle with push button

The handle version with push-button device adds to the indisputable safety advantages:

  • The convenience of locking and unlocking with a simple wave of the hand.
  • Since there is no key, there are no losses.
  • Anti-theft security if the thief wants to manipulate the handle from the outside.
  • It is an economic system.
  • Easy to install in 30 seconds.
  • It can be installed in all windows.
  • Always in operation.

In summary, these are the advantages over different types of intrusion:

Security Glazing

In Román Windows & Doors we classify the security glass by three levels of protection, according to the needs of the project and the feeling of security of the user.

Safety of Use

With a basic level of security, it is the most installed type of glass in homes. Its function is limited to avoiding accidents for the user, since the glass does not break or fall, there is no impossibility of crossing it and falling, and it does not cut.  It is installed in windows, balconies and also bathroom screens.

Anti-Aggression Glass

Under this denomination are grouped the characteristics necessary to resist against intentional attacks of various considerations. Therefore, different types of aggression are included and with different objectives: Intentional aggression by throwing objects, vandalism, theft, personal aggression, etc.

It hinders the attempt to penetrate the interior of the premises or the house. Depending on the time and type of tools used by the offender, different carpenters and glass must be placed.

It is installed in homes, jewelry stores, premises, museums, etc.

When selecting the desired level of protection, the real needs must be assessed. It is necessary to bear in mind that there is NO “Anti-theft” glass, but different levels of protection that act as retarders or hinderers of aggression, but with sufficient time and means …

It will be the user who decides the desired level of protection, either by real and / or regulatory need or by psychological need (feeling safe) within their home. Therefore, the term “Anti-Theft” should not be used, as it does not refer to a defined level of protection.

Anti-Bullet Glass

It is about offering protection against attacks carried out with firearms, both with projectiles of a single mass (bullets), and several (posts), considering different types of weapons (pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, etc.) and calibers, taking into account that the projectile does not penetrate the glazing and the possibility of projection of shrapnel towards the protected area.

As in the previous case, the user must assess the protection needs, including psychological ones, and the type of attack foreseeable prior to the decision of the desired level of protection.

It is installed in banks, jewelry stores, lottery premises, security facilities, etc.
